We had an incredibly busy week. Trey is getting to the stage where he doesn't sleep just anywhere anymore, so every outing costs us a nap or at least a portion of one. So today we had a jammy day at home. We took our time waking up, eating breakfast, and then decided to just play at home all day. It was a welcome change of pace for me and the kids and it showed in all of our interactions. Lots of smiles, laughing, gentle conversation, snuggles and games. This little guy was delightful all day, moving from napping to eating to playing and back to napping without a single fuss, a break from his car seat was a huge relief I am sure.
Jewel is getting better and better at her gentle interactions with him, and he is learning to appreciate her attention and affection.
I love this picture. She is so proud of herself, reading him a book in her big girl chair, and he is so happy to have an audience. This was after she had covered him with a blanket, given him his binky, kissed his owie, and cleaned some spit up off his shirt. Such a little mommy!
But Silas may have benefited more than all of us. He needs down time, creative time, alone time, and quiet time. When I told him we were staying home in our jammies today, his eyes got big and he said 'really? we get to stay in our jammies?'
So thankful for these three little people today, and a chance to take a break from our busy schedule to just enjoy them in their unique and precious ways.
